It’s the Spring Equinox here in the Northern Hemisphere—time for new beginnings. I love watching the plants explode with new leaves and hearing the birds entertain with their love songs. I’m relaunching my Star Tarot newsletter and this seems like the perfect time.
So, why the Yellow-Brick Road? Collins Dictionary tells me that the Yellow-Brick Road is a symbol of the road to happiness and success. When Dorothy lands in Oz, she must remember who she is in order to get home to Kansas. The Munchkins and Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, tell her to “follow the yellow-brick road” because, surely, if anyone can tell her what to do the all-powerful Wizard of Oz can. Most of us know the story—in the end Dorothy finds that she had the wisdom, the key to return home all along but she’d forgotten it.
All of us who find ourselves living a life on planet Earth have something in common with Dorothy. As we live and learn and grow and life happens, we tend to forget that we can access answers we’ve forgotten or buried on this journey.
I’d like to begin this journey with The Star for a couple of reasons. First of all, my sun sign is Aquarius and The Star in the Tarot is the card that corresponds to Aquarius. Secondly, and more importantly, Stars are associated with guidance and inspiration. The Star is usually depicted with one foot in the water and one foot on dry land, water pouring into the water from one vessel and onto the land from another so there’s a balance there. The Star is about healing, hope, beauty and faith in the Universe—all things that will help us on this journey down the Yellow-Brick Road back to our Authentic Self—back home.
I’ve found—for myself anyway—and also for people I’ve done Tarot readings for, that Tarot (and oracle cards) are wonderful tools to help get in touch with this inner knowing. I’d love for you to join me here for a trip down the Yellow-Brick Road. Every other week, I’ll be contemplating the journey. I’ll ask some questions, pull some cards to see how Tarot can help us come home to our Authentic Self and I hope you’ll join in the conversation.
I’ll be popping back in your inbox in two weeks and I’ll be sharing some new ways we can connect as we continue this journey.
Until next time, I wish you a calm and peaceful journey sprinkled with a little excitement and lots of love.
